Society must tackle the challenges presented by ageing in every generation – not leave them until old age. This is the key conclusion of a major new Evidence Review Report entitled Transforming the Future of Ageing, published today by SAPEA.
The report is destined for the desks of the new European Commissioners expected to take office later in 2019. It reviews the best evidence on what public policies might help EU countries to achieve inclusive, fair and sustainable health and social care in the future.

15. června se v prostorách barokní kaple Italského kulturního institutu bude konat mezinárodní konference„Science and Mysticism, where the crossroads lie“. Jak věda vysvětluje fenomén mystické extáze, o níž hovoří mnohá náboženství? Proč mohou některé přírodní nebo uměle vytvořené látky posílit stav vědomí a rozšířit naše smyslové vnímání? Proč mohou šamanské a rituální praktiky uvést do transu? Co si myslí věda o mystických fenoménech? Šestnáct přednášejících z různých zemí, z nichž mnozí jsou z Itálie, představí své pohledy na věc.
Syndikát novinářů ČR, potažmo Klub vědeckých novinářů, hostil o poslední březnové sobotě Valné shromáždění Evropské asociace vědeckých novinářů. Zasedání EUSJA, jehož organizace se každoročně ujme některý z členských států, je vždy spojeno se studijní návštěvou vědeckého nebo pedagogického pracoviště v pořadatelské zemi. Mezi letošním 28. až 30. březnem tomu tak bylo i u nás: pro zahraniční kolegy jsme připravili návštěvu Národního technického muzea a program Nano2EUSJA na Vysoké škole chemicko-technologické v Praze.

Journalists who would like to cover the 69th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting may apply for travel grants. This year’s meeting, which is dedicated to physics, will take place 30 June–5 July 2019 in the Inselhalle Lindau, Germany. The Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings will compensate accommodation for up to five nights and transportation costs of grant recipients.

Foundation awards travel grants to journalists to cover the 7th Heidelberg Laureate Forum
This September, recipients of the Abel Prize, ACM A.M. Turing Award, ACM Prize in Computing, Fields Medal, and the Nevanlinna Prize are invited to gather in Heidelberg to meet with 200 young researchers from all over the world at the 7th Heidelberg Laureate Forum (HLF). In order to reach a broader, more international audience, the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Foundation (HLFF) provides a select number of travel grants for journalists to cover the event, creating a space to interact with the preeminent scientists of mathematics and computer science. The 7th HLF will take place from September 22-27, 2019, and applications for the coveted travel grants are accepted until May 20, 2019. The International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) is currently accepting applications for its summer 2019 Science Communication Fellowship. The fellowship starts on 27 May and ends on 30 August. The fellowship covers the cost of travel to and from Vienna and the awardee’s home country at the beginning and end of the fellowship, as well as a modest stipend to offset living expenses during the period of the fellowship.
